The name ‘Whitstable’ conjures up bracing sea air, top sea food restaurants and traditional shops. Whitstable has a great selection of places to eat with delicious menus to suit all tastes and all pockets. It is especially renowned for Whitstable Oysters and other seafood. Most restaurants also have vegan menus and cater for special diet requirements so that no one need miss out! Here are just three of our Members' favourite restaurants -
Samphire
A Kentish Bistro firmly established within the Whitstable restaurant scene. The style of food is simple with emphasis on great produce. They are proud to showcase the best seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms, allotments and producers in their regularly changing menus. Samphire are celebrating this year as winners of 'Best Bistro in Kent' awarded by Kent Taste Awards.
Birdies
Set in the heart of Whitstable on Harbour Street with seating for 42 and outside, weather permitting. Birdies is one of Whitstable's oldest family run restaurants, since 1993 by Phil, Sue & Family. This has enabled Birdies to build a good rapport with local fishermen and boatmen, so brilliant fresh fish features on the menu alongside great French classics.
Whitstable Oyster Fishery Co.
The Royal Native Oyster Stores in Kent is a seafood restaurant offering some of the very best oysters, fish and crustacea. They have become world famous for offering the freshest fish that is simply cooked; they believe that the finest products speak for themselves. The restaurant is on the beach. A full a la carte menu is available from Monday to Sunday.
